CIMB Bank and International Currency Exchange (ICE) today marked their partnership with the unveiling of their co-branded bureau de change outlet at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The CIMB-ICE bureau de change will offer new innovative retail foreign exchange (forex) products and services to travellers. Tunku Datuk Ahmad Burhanuddin, Executive Director of CIMB Bank unveiled the co-branded outlet accompanied by Peter England, Head of Retail Banking, CIMB Bank and Koko Sarkari, Director of Global Operations, ICE.

As the world’s second largest provider of retail forex products and services at airports, ICE will enhance CIMB Bank’s offerings at all its bureau de change outlets nationwide. At the unveiling ceremony, Peter England announced that the KLIA outlet will offer the Rate Protection Guarantee (RPG) facility, the first facility of its kind in Malaysia. “This facility enables travellers with unspent foreign currency to exchange it at same rate at which they originally purchased the currency from the CIMB-ICE bureau de change. RPG enables customers to minimise exchange rate losses when they convert leftover travel money,” he explained. Another innovative product offered by CIMB-ICE is the bureau de change privilege card for loyal customers. “It is a personalised card that offers preferential rates for future purchases at any of our CIMB-ICE bureau de change. The card, given for free, automatically qualifies the customer for the RPG facility,” he added.

Western Union Money Transfer® services will also be available at all CIMB-ICE bureau de change locations. “Both CIMB and ICE are already agents of Western Union, hence it is only natural that we also offer this service at our joint bureau de change outlets,” remarked England.

Meanwhile Koko Sarkari of ICE said: “This is a great opportunity for us to build on our global network and further strengthen our position in the retail forex sector. Working with CIMB Bank offers ICE the potential to create a major network across Asia, providing high quality service and products for travellers throughout the region. We will leverage each others’ strengths to build a positive and focused retail forex business in Malaysia and will help CIMB Bank expand this business throughout the region.”
