Swedish bank Swedbank has announced that Michael Wolf will be the firm’s new chief executive officer, taking up the post no later than 24 April 2009.

Wolf, who is presently Intrum Justitia’s acting head, brings with him over two decades of experience in the finance sector (13 years in banking and eight in insurance) and replaces outgoing CEO Jan Lidén.

Swedbank’s board has been searching for someone to become CEO who brought with them a strong record of success, and personal experience of operating in capital markets.

Chairman Carl Eric Stålberg explained that Wolf had been selected by the board due to the impressive CV of success achieved at SEB, Skandia and Intrum Justitia.

Wolf himself has described the job as one of the finest in Sweden’s financial sector, heaping praise on the firm for rapidly taking advantage of the new opportunities availed by the new democracies across the Baltic Sea.
